“August 2026: There Will Come Soft Rains” is a short story by Ray Bradbury that allows us a glimpse into the future; very far future from when Bradbury wrote the story in 1950. Symbolism and Irony were used to warn humans of their reliability on the advancement of technology. I’ll be focusing my blog around these two styles. Throughout the story we hear all about the House’s actions and vocalization without response, yet no signs of human interaction. It is almost as if the roles have versed, the house is doing the living while the humans have literally and symbolically passed away.
